Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our North West region, based from our regional office in Speke. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to leverage their existing experience within housebuilding or for a more junior candidate ready to step into an Engineer role where progression may not currently be available in their organisation.

The role plays a key part in co‑ordinating and controlling technical and engineering information, ensuring timely approvals and supporting programmed starts on site. You will work closely with the wider Technical team, external consultants, and site-based colleagues.

Please note, the role will require travel to development sites within a 40‑mile radius of Speke.

Key responsibilities

Technical & Engineering

  • Liaise with external consultants to ensure deadlines for engineering designs and reports are met
  • Apply for and secure statutory body approvals for engineering design and ground investigations
  • Control and co‑ordinate all technical information between external consultants and internal departments
  • Ensure engineering information and approvals are issued in line with programmed site start dates
  • Support tenders and pre‑start engineering documentation and oversee viability considerations
  • Obtain all required technical approvals to allow developments to progress to site

Design & Support

  • Assist the Engineering Manager in obtaining fee quotations from specialist engineering and technical consultants
  • Provide ongoing technical and administrative support to site teams
  • Support the wider Technical team in ensuring best practice and compliance with company standards

 

Product Development

  • Work with the Central Design Team to develop products and research build systems to ensure we are ready for legislation and market change.
  • Be aware of the need for innovation in all aspects of our business
  • Expect and encourage continued change and improvement within the Company

People

  • Create a good rapport with our partner consultants, contractors and adopting authorities to ensure the Company receives total commitment
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Regional team, ensuring all information is communicated effectively and efficiently
  • Develop others working within the engineering section and provide support and coaching where required

About you 

  • Ideally, you will have previous experience in a similar role within a UK housebuilder, however we are also keen to hear from junior candidates ready to step up into an Engineer role
  • Comfortable using engineering-related software, particularly AutoCAD
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with consultants, site teams, and internal stakeholders
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a willingness to learn and develop

Skills, knowledge & experience

We are looking for an Engineer who embodies our Keepmoat values; passionate about the housebuilding industry, they will work in a straightforward way, possessing strong organisational skills with a good commercial and contractual awareness. They will be creative with a keen eye for detail and ability to process technical information. They will be collaborative, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong negotiator with proven experience in gaining consent on complex technical approvals.

Education & qualifications

Essential:

HNC qualified

Valid UK driver’s license
